Well, well, well look just what the cat dragged in…
Eight years! Eight years I’ve waited to sing this again at the top of my lungs at a Milburn show. It was well and truly worth the wait when I attended the first night of their four sold out dates at Sheffield 02 at the beginning of May.
As soon as the lads strolled onto the stage to Groove Armada’s ‘Superstylin’ the place completely erupted, lager was flung, and bodies fell down. Milburn were back. The Sheffield lads played an array of cult classics, album tracks and a few B-sides thrown in for us diehard fans. A perfect set list for a perfect return.
Now you may question why a band with such a loyal fan base and popularity amongst their peers would decide to knock it on the head after only two albums and surely only at the beginning of a long career.
Well to cut a long story short, Milburn’s frontman Joe Carnall had a chat with me pre-show to natter about lazy journalism and why they decided to make a comeback – thank god they did!
