It’s amazing to think that two years ago these four lads from North Yorkshire were recording demos in their bedrooms as there was ‘nothing better to do’ in their sleepy village.
Fast forward two years and they’ve had a session on BBC Introducing, appeared on the BBC Introducing stage at Leeds & Reading, they were BBC Radio 1 track of the week and they’ve put pen to paper on a record deal with Sony ATV. It’s a proper WTF rollercoaster ride but so well deserved.
I’ve said previously, that York isn’t particularly known for bands breaking free and having an impact anywhere further than Selby (see interview with Rick Witter) but Hello Operator aren’t just any other band, they’ve broken the mould and spread their wings to bigger and better things.
I was a very earlier supporter of this band, I think I was one of the first people to hear their demo and it completely blew me away; like hearing the Arctic Monkeys or Catfish and the Bottlemen for the first time. This led me to record a radio session with them within days. This gave the band the realisation that they did certainly have something special on offer.
They are now ready for whatever this music business throws at them because believe me, they will come back at it with a force to be reckoned with.
Sit back and enjoy four live tunes and a chinwag with the lads who haven’t forgotten their roots.
