A few years ago now, I was doing a two week placement at BBC Radio 6 Music and remember hearing one particular song on Mary Ann Hobbs’ show that made my bus man’s holiday all worthwhile.
It was about 0730am on a Saturday morning, and ‘Swarm’ by The Bohicas was coming out of the speakers at a volume that was making my teeth rattle. I absolutely bloody loved it.
From that day on, I kept hammering this song constantly and keeping an eye on anything else they brought out. I was buzzing that a year later they were playing at Leeds Brudenell Social Club, which in my opinion is the best venue in the North.
Now signed to Domino, I asked them if there was any doubt in their minds about signing with an independent label, and they told me that their debut album is better than ‘sliced bread’ (this was said completely tongue in cheek).
If that’s the case, then what inspired it?
