Rick Witter told me that without the Stone Roses, there wouldn’t be Shed Seven. We also talked about how the band chooses not to be in clubs with Peter Springfellow and how bragging in your home town will get you your head kicked in. Rick told me first of all how the basic seeds of Shed Seven songs are crafted.
The city of York is famous for many things. It is draped in history and culture with people travelling far and wide to gawpe at the Minster and walk along the bar walls. One thing it certainly hasn’t been known for (unfortunately) is having bands break free from the city and go on to having national success.
That can’t be said for Shed Seven as they became a household name back in the 90’s just as the Britpop spiral was spinning; and they were churning out indie hits like the best of them.
